What are the requirements to list my car on Turo?
- Your vehicle must meet Turo’s eligibility and safety standards, remain in good operating condition, and have valid registration and state-required insurance. Owners also need to allow the vehicle to be managed under Jimmy’s CarShare’s operating setup, including toll handling if applicable. The co-hosting agreement includes a 3-month minimum commitment.
How is management and maintenance handled?
- Jimmy’s CarShare provides full-service management on the Turo platform, including listing setup, dynamic pricing, guest communication, booking coordination, check-in/check-out, post-trip inspections, cleaning, and airport-related coordination. Routine maintenance is coordinated to keep the vehicle compliant. Consumables such as tires, brakes, wipers, and filters are deducted from the owner’s share, while engine oil and oil-filter changes are covered by Jimmy’s CarShare. Major mechanical repairs and windshield replacement remain the owner’s responsibility.
How is revenue split?
- Rental income is split 70% to the owner and 30% to Jimmy’s CarShare. The 30% co-host share covers management, cleaning, marketing, and guest communication.
When and how do I get paid?
- Payouts are issued once per month for the previous month’s earnings via direct deposit. If the vehicle is listed under Jimmy’s CarShare’s Turo account, earnings are reported annually on a 1099. If the vehicle remains under the owner’s own Turo account, Jimmy’s CarShare provides a monthly QuickBooks invoice and receipt instead.
How is insurance handled? Do I need personal insurance?
- During an active Turo trip, the vehicle is protected under Turo’s More Earnings Plan, which includes up to $750,000 in third-party liability coverage and a $2,750 damage responsibility per trip.
- Physical damage protection may apply to eligible incidents such as collisions, theft, fire, vandalism, and other covered events, subject to Turo’s protection terms.
